A homeschool co-op is a group of families who meet regularly and work cooperatively to achieve common goals, which can be based on socialization, education, activities, or any combination of these. They often switch off, whether by subject or day, and take turns educating each other's children. This “it takes a village" approach helps parents by shifting and sharing the responsibility of educating their kids.
Nope. Silva is not a drop-off school environment. Parents/caretakers must stay onsite with their children.
Yes! We are a family experience!
Silva is aiming to create an inclusive homeschool community, to foster strong relationships and friendships. When parents are involved and helping, those relationships grow! Volunteering could be watching over the babies in the nursery, helping to set up for co-op, manning a unit themed activity station, running a team building exercise, cleaning up after co-op, etc.
That depends on a couple of things. Are you willing to volunteer? How many chapters/days a week would you like to attend?

Yes, parents can make that decision because they know their children best!
Our Facebook Group is a great place to start chatting with other Silva members and get a better feel for the personality of the group.
There will also be various Open Houses or other one time meet-ups that are a great way to get your feet wet before committing for a semester.
No, Silva is child-led. We provide each chapter with the supplies needed and leave it up to the parents to decide which experiences they choose to participate in.
Membership dues are non-refundable 14 days before the Sunday your chapter starts. Salaries are set aside and supplies are purchased well before co-op starts. After membership due date any extra monies that come in go to supporting our scholarship program.
Silva offers its members the opportunity to have a home garden/homestead designed by someone with their PDC and implemented by their local chapter. We also do permablitzes at local farms and non profit organizations.
